For many entry level smartphone users, the Facebook app is heavy and takes a lot of memory leaving too little space for other apps. Meanwhile, many users would still need to install more Facebook apps like Pages Manager, Groups, or Messenger all of which are heavy too. Memory aside, the Android Facebook app is a data guzzler and may not work well with slow internet speeds. So Facebook Lite would make a lot of sense to the majority of smartphone users in Asia and Africa. According to Facebook, Facebook Lite is less than 1MB making it fast to install and quick to load. It allows you to access most of what you love on the usual Facebook like News Feed, status updates, photos and notifications. Since the app inst yet available for Africa, we weren’t able to experience it.
